BOC to form Varsity union
Manama : A plan to form a union for all of Bahrain’s university is now underway as per decision issued by the Bahrain Olympic Committee during its annual board meeting held recently in Seef.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar had discussions with Higher Education Council general secretary Dr Abdulghani Al Shuwaikh to activate this significant step that aims to form a strong team that represent Bahrain at regional and international competition.
During the meeting, Askar said the declaration of this union is a major booster to sport in Bahrain, where large segment of local athletes will have the opportunity they missed at local clubs and become representatives of their country through their respective universities.
On his part, Dr Al Shuwaikh welcomed the decision of the BOC, and described the formation of the union as a positive step to expand sports foundation and to give way to students from different universities to present their talents and sports capabilities.
