Public buses achieve new milestone during Eid

 The Bahrain Public Transport Company (BPTC) announced it would introduce 10 new routes from August 1, tallying to a total of 32 routes.

 The decision comes after the new public transport network, officially launched on April 1 with 22 routes, reported the highest passenger movement since its commencement, during Eid weekend, BPTC said.

 Though the statistics were not immediately available, The rush witnessed by the buses during all four Eid holidays backs the fact that it has gained huge popularity in the Kingdom.

 BPTC stated the bus services had been very popular during Eid and witnessed higher passenger movement than ordinary days.

 Main routes between Isa Town and Manama remained the busiest routes during Eid days. Newly launched services to City Centre Mall, Seef and the airport also saw higher passenger usage during Eid, said BPTC.

 The number of passengers has been improving with the expansion of the bus service, it said, highlighting the popularity of the service.

 “We have been gradually expanding our services in line with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication’s roll-out plan. This expansion is set to continue this week, up to August 1, when the full network will become fully operational,” BPTC added.
