Murder: Court renews detention by 15 days
Manama
A 35-year-old person accused in connection with the murder of his friend had his detention renewed by another 15 days. The accused reportedly hit the victim on his head with a metal rod.
The attack allegedly took place following an argument over stolen spare parts from a neighboring stable.
The deceased was reportedly living in the accused’s family house in the village of Al Musalla. And it was the victim’s brother who reported his death to the police. The brother said he found his brother lying on the floor of his room but initially thought he was sleeping.
"My mother told asked to go and check my brother's room after we heard some noise. But when I went there, I saw him lying on the floor and I thought he was drunk and was taking a nap," the brother said in his statement.
"I went to him on the next day and found him motionless in the same position. I shook his body, but he didn't move. So I immediately called police and ambulance," he added.
Forensic report revealed that the victim was hit oh his head with a heavy object, causing internal bleeding and fractures to his skull. Detectives suspected the accused was committing the crime, and the suspicion was backed by an eyewitness who claimed that he saw accused attacking the victim in a stable.
"I was passing by the stable when I saw him (the accused) assaulting the victim owing to a dispute over stolen items," the eyewitness said in his statement. "I saw him hitting the victim with a metal rod," he added.
The accused however, admitted to attacking the accused but claimed he didn’t know his blows were fatal.
“I learned that someone stole spare parts from the neighboring stable and he (the victim) told me that he committed it along with two others,” the accused said.
I attacked them to force them to divulge if they were actually responsible or not. But later I took him (the victim) to his house and he was fine," the accused claimed.
He has been accused of murdering of the victim. The High Criminal Court yesterday ordered for him to be kept in police custody for 15 days, pending investigations.
