King opens ‘Mara’ee 4’

Manama : The fourth edition of the Bahrain Animal Production Show 2018 (Mara’ee 4) opened yesterday at the Bahrain International Endurance Village. His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa patronised the opening ceremony, in the presence of the His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince were received by the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Mara’ee 4 High Organising Committee Chairman Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, and senior officials. 

HM the King honoured the winners of the categories of best greyhound, falcon, cow, pigeon, horse, colt, filly and stallion. He also honoured the horse “Nadhira Al-Rashidiya, owned by Abdulrahman Al-Jasmi, recipient of the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO) prize for the best local breed for 2017-2018, the gold medals in Saudi Arabia and Germany, in addition to a silver medal in Milan.

HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and other officials toured a book fair themed “Horse Treasures”, held on sidelines of the Mara’ee 4, showcasing pictures of Arab and Bahraini horses, the Al-Khalifa royal stables, pure Bahraini breeds in addition to artwork depicting equine beauty. 

HM the King has also launched a book titled “Horse Pastures” and was presented with a commemorative memento by the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Mara’ee 4 High Organising Committee Chairman Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf.

He commended the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to organize the exhibition, hailing national initiatives to support agricultural and animal production and launch vital service and entertainment projects. He also hailed the dedicated efforts and contribution of the Royal Guard to the show. 

He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness on developing and protecting the sector of animal resources which, he said, represent a key pillar of food security in the Kingdom. “The organization of Mara’ee 4 reflects Bahrain’s pioneering standing, citizens’ competence and success in attract major specialized exhibitions which support the national economy and encourage investment in the sector of animal production”, HM the King said. 

His Majesty hailed the outstanding presence of local companies which developed and benefited from previous shows, commending the large participation of Arab and international companies in the exhibition, which provides an important opportunity to keep abreast of latest technologies to develop animal resources. HM the King hailed the cultural, educational and entertainment functions which were held on the sidelines of the fourth edition of the Bahrain Animal Production Show 2018 (Mara’ee 4)
