Three social media misusers remanded

Manama : The Public Prosecution has remanded three people in custody for seven days pending investigation for misusing social media websites.
The trio were arrested, following a thorough inquiry, and referred to the Public Prosecution which faced them with evidence, Advocate Fahd Al-Buainain said.

The Department of Anti-crime at the General Directorate of Anti-crime, Economic and Electronic Security had reported several complaints about social media abuses to the Public Prosecution.
The first accused, who was questioned, confessed to using his cellphone to post indecent video recordings on WhatsApp.
The second accused appeared before the Public Prosecution and admitted that he had supplied a malicious twitter account with information about the private life of a number of individuals.

In the third case, an accused confessed to uploading offensive video recordings on YouTube, causing prejudice to others.
The Public Prosecution urged the public to avoid social media abuse which harms society, warning that legal action would be taken against violators in cases reported by the Department of Anti-crime.
