Trial of robbery case adjourned until Aug 19
Manama
The trial of two persons accused of theft was yesterday adjourned until August 19 to assign them lawyers.
The duo is accused of stealing the handbag of a British woman in Juffair on June 13.
Aged 31 and 38, the suspects, who were serving as security officers, reportedly attacked the woman from behind and seized her bag, which contained BD10 and an iPhone.
The woman suffered bruises in the incident, but she single-handedly solved the case.
According to court files, her phone had an application designed to give the location of the phone in case it went missing.
She used the application to find the location of the mobile, which was a mobile shop.
"When I met the owner of the shop, I requested from him the CPR copy of the person who sold the phone and gave it to police," the woman said during questioning.
The pair was later apprehended and they admitted to committing the robbery. They also confessed they stole two other bags the same night.
"We were in the bar and we drank too much. When we left we decided rob people," one of the suspects said.
