CSB President warns employees against misuse of social media
Manama : Civil Service Bureau (CSB) President Ahmed bin Zayed al-Zayed has warned employees against misuse of social media.
“Some Bahraini employees were resorting to misuse of social media recently. Such behavior is a violation of morals and ethics. It is inappropriate to target national security by stigmatizing people and defaming sects and religions in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” said Al-Zayed, adding that such behavior is a violation to CSB’s code of conduct.
CSB President confirmed that any employee working in the civil service who commit violation is subject to legal accountability. Necessary measures and disciplinary actions will be taken against those who are proved to be violating civil service table of offences and penalties, and such violations may result in suspension from job.
Al-Zayed pointed that the CSB code of good conduct and the public ethics stress government employees’ mandatory allegiance to His Majesty the King, loyalty to the Kingdom of Bahrain, compliance with the constitution and respect of the laws and legislations”. He stressed the need for all government staff to preserve the dignity and prestige of the job.
The CSB President stated that while taking into consideration the right and freedom of employees to speak and express their opinions objectively, employees must adhere to, and maintain the public order, public morals, customs and traditions of the Kingdom, as well as the laws and regulations in force.
He stressed that employees should deal with social media tactfully and keep away from engaging in writing letters or publishing anonymous articles that harm the workplace, employers, officials and the government in general.
Al-Zayed pointed out that the Government department and the Civil Service Bureau reserve the right to undertake measures and impose penalties on any employee who misuse the social media to defame people or resort to religious contempt.
He also stressed that all employees should familiarize themselves with the civil service law, table of offences and penalties, the code of conduct and the ethics of public functionality to know their rights and duties.
