Workshop held for National Security Agency affiliates

ManamaThe National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organised, in cooperation with the Inspector General’s Office at the National Security Agency, a workshop for the third group of the agency’s affiliates on the Convention Against Torture and aspects of maltreatment, tough, inhumane and humiliating punishment. The workshop was organised as part of the training programme held for 160 affiliates of the National Security Agency on human rights. It was presented by Head of the General Law Department at the University of Bahrain’s College of Law Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Haiti.

It cast light on a number of issues, including the International Convention Against Torture, the stance of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) regarding torture, the international vision and the stance of the Bahraini legislator.

The training programme of the National Security Agency’s affiliates continues from January to September 2018. It comprises workshops, training sessions, awareness lectures and other functions shedding light on human rights and the anti-torture conventions.
