Expedite studies to extract oil from new field: PM

Manama : His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday gave directives to expedite the technical studies and the economic feasibility of the extractable quantities of oil and gas from the newly discovered oil field in the Khaleej Al Bahrain Basin to start the production process and offer the exploration area for investment for international companies to increase the Kingdom’s oil and gas production and increase the revenues.

The directive was given at the cabinet meeting chaired by HRH Prime Minister in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

HRH Prime Minister also directed the departments to continue the oil and gas exploration and excavation works. 

Minister of Oil, Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa made a presentation at the meeting in which he highlighted the exploration projects in the oil reservoirs and deep gas areas and their land and sea layers. He informed the session about the future steps that will be taken towards the reservoirs that are ready for production in the oil and gas fields, as well as on the forecast quantities of oil and gas, as shown in the geological surveys and studies prepared in this regard.
