ICT Ministry inspects weighing and measuring instruments
Manama : The Directorate of Standardization & Metrology of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism confirmed that 1461 weight scales used in the local markets are conform to specifications and represents 74 per cent. The number of violent scales amounted to 526, which is equivalent to 26pc, were excluded, and prevented to use.
This came during the inspection campaign undertaken by the Directorate of Standardization & Metrology to verify the integrity of the weighting and measurement tools used in commercial transactions to ensure that they are read correctly and to ensure that the consumers’ rights.
The Director of Standardization & Metrology Mona Alalawi confirmed that the inspection campaign conducted in the central markets for two weeks, in Muharraq, Riffa, Hamad Town, Sitra and Jedhafs.
