Man sentenced to three years for planting fake bomb

ManamaThe Fourth High Criminal Court yesterday sentenced a Bahraini man to three years imprisonment for planting a fake bomb in a public place back in 2015.

According to court files, the man along with others wrapped a plastic container in a black bag, forming it in a shape close explosives, and placed near a local bakery in Tubli on December 5, 2015.

It was mentioned in the details of the case that “the  defendant attached electrical wires to the object with the intention to spread fear among citizens and residents, and disturb peace and public order in the Kingdom”.

Laboratory results of the Criminal Investigation Department states that the suspect is the source of human traces collected from the object and further investigation proved his responsibility for the incident.

When confronted with the evidence and witnesses testimonies, the defendant confessed to the crime. The Public Prosecution accused him and his associates of making models of explosives and placing it in a public place.

The judges explained that “because the defendant is below the age of 18 years he received a lightened sentence of three years of imprisonment”. The court ordered to confiscate the fake explosives planted by the defendant.
