F1 Fans to enjoy 3X3 Basketball and motorsport together at BIC

Manama : Basketball and motorsport will be coming together this weekend at the Formula 1 2018 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

As an exciting bonus to an already packed entertainment programme, fans will be able to take part in 3X3 (three-on-three) basketball and also test their skills in a handful of interactive motorsport activities.

The basketball activity is being conducted in cooperation with the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA), under the directives of BBA President His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa.

A special zone in BIC’s F1 Village has been allocated for a half-court playing area.

Race-goers will be able to join in on the 3X3 fun. They will be shooting hoops alongside a number of famous Bahraini athletes from various sports, including national football stars Mohammed Salmeen, Ismaeel Abdullatif and Mahmood Abdulrahman; handball icons Saeed Johar and Hussain Al Sayyad; members of the Bapco women’s basketball team and KHK MMA fighters led by Hamza Kooheji, to name a few.

There will be many other well-known Bahraini personalities playing, ensuring plenty of friendly action in the spirit of fun and enjoyment.

This basketball activity is a first-of-its-kind for the F1 weekend, and organisers are inviting fans to take part.

Meanwhile, the interactive motorsport activities will be held in the F1 Fanzone.

The F1 Fanzone is a central place within the F1 Village where fans will be brought closer to a real experience in motorsport.

During the race weekend, F1 Fanzone will host various activities including F1 Esports, a Pitstop Challenge and a Fitness Challenge, to name a few.

F1 Esports is where fans can race against nine other competitors in the official F1 game. The 10 quickest winners of a daily battle will be given a tour of the F1 Paddock. As a separate constant competition throughout the weekend, a lap time will be set by 2017 Esports winner Brendon Leigh with prizes for any fan who can beat it.

The Pitstop Challenge gives three teams of six the chance to go against each other in a knockout competition, changing Pirelli tyres on an F1 car.
