Norris takes dominant victory

ManamaLando Norris led teammate Sergio Sette Camara to a Carlin one-two yesterday in the feature race of round one in the 2018 FIA Formula 2 Championship, being held in support of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Norris completed the 31-lap event in a total time of 57 minutes 46.206 seconds. He won from pole position and enjoyed a large gap early on. Camara followed 8.321 seconds behind. He narrowly beat Artem Markelov of Russian Time for the runner-up spot, as Markelov finished 8.532s back – just a 0.211s gap between them.

Alexander Albon of DAMS finished fourth 9.349s from first, George Russell of ART Grand Prix was fifth 13.947s off the winning pace, and Nyck de Vries of Pertamina Prema Theodore Racing was sixth 14.661s behind Norris.

Completing the points winners from seventh through 10th, respectively, were Sean Gelael of Pertamina Prema Theodore Racing, Maximillan Gunther of BWT Arden, Jack Aitken of ART Grand Prix and Ralph Boschung of MP Motorsport.

The weekend’s sprint race, consisting of 23 laps, is scheduled for Sunday at 2.15pm.
