Bahrain Grand Prix...here to stay! 

Manama : A massive audience, a defining global spotlight and extremely well-satisfied teams, the Bahrain Grand Prix 2018 ends on a high note, as the country successfully manages to showcase to the world once more, its capability to execute in perfection one of the leading motorsports of the world.

BIC Commercial Director, Sherif Al Mahdy spoke to the DT News on why this is one of the biggest treasures of Bahrain and how it keeps on getting bigger and better every year. “This year, we might have seen our biggest crowd yet on Day 1. This shows the eagerness and trusts our visitors have in us; hence it is our job to commit to giving the best.”

He pointed how the entertainment area, the fan zone and the vending area were completely packed this year and how all the teams and the team drivers were content and satisfied with the coordination and flow of activities. “They have always talked very positively about the paddock in Bahrain and the services we provide here.”

Shedding light on how it is a complete family affair and not just a race event, Sherif pointed out the great detail that goes into the marketing of each year’s theme to make it an event that caters to every member of the family.

“We are fortunate to have a very creative team that manages to come up with a new and different theme every year for Bahrain Grand Prix. We are coming forth with a whole generation of motorsport enthusiasts hence it is important to stay on our toes and keep things in motion.”

This year’s F1 village especially stood as there was also a very entertaining ‘kids tent’ catering to younger children, hence proving Sherif’s word on Bahrain Grand Prix being an event for the whole family.

Aside from the vending area of roaming acts, shows and activities and the defining concerts, this year also saw new F1 experiences debuting in Bahrain like the Pit Lane Walk and Truck Tour. Besides which the BIC showcases the very best of international motorsport with not only Formula 1, but also the FIA Formula 2 Championship and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East. All these additional initiatives ensure Bahrain’s commitment to providing an outstanding experience to every person in attendance.

“Any effort or initiative that brings fans closer to the drivers and the F1 experiences; we support it and will do anything needed to ensure it is part of Bahrain GP. This year, we were extremely proud to see a Bahraini driver-Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa for the Porsche GT3 Cup race. It is something that gives us complete satisfaction and honour to see home-grown talent during an F1 event and affirms our strong position in the Formula 1 calendar.”
