Clubs support for sport conference

ManamaNational sports clubs have offered its support and solidarity to this week’s First Arab Conference on Sport with the slogan “The Role of Sport in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals.”

The conference, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, is scheduled for April 10 and 11 and is hosted by Art Rotana Amwaj Hotel in Muharraq.

It’s organised in cooperation with the United Nations Office in Bahrain and the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Sports and Recreation (ICHPER.SD).

Clubs president emphasized the importance of the event as Bahrain embraces a group of key speakers and participants from the Arab region as well as other parts of the world over two days.

Al Najma Club president Isa Al Qattan said the conference underlines the Kingdom’s commitment to the principles of sustainable development as a strategic choice through several successive reforms in various fields, including the sports field.

On his part, Al Ahli Club president Khalid Kanoo described this gathering as a reflection of Bahrain’s vision to encourage the attention towards sport as a major pillar to promote the sustainable development goals.

His Al Shabab Club’s counterpart Mirza Ahmed, meanwhile, said the Kingdom of Bahrain gives great attention to programmes that promote sustainable development in an attempt to promote development approach.

Manama Club president Zuhair Kazerooni shared the same thoughts as he emphasized the effect of the conference in putting the light on the role of sport in achieving development and piece in order to fulfil its aspiration for a sustainable development.
