Shaikh Isa Award to be given in four categories

ManamaFour categories have been confirmed for this year’s edition of the Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work in the field of sport, due to take place tomorrow

Honourees this year include national teams managers, international referees, teams supervisors and media personnel, who will receive their respective awards at the Sofitel Hotel in Zallaq.

The award is patronized by Representative of His Majesty for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa

The decision was announced by Abdulrahman Askar, general secretary of the award ceremony organisers – the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Askar said the awarding ceremony – which is organized once every two years – is the one of the leading programmes on the BOC agenda, as per directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The BOC general secretary noted that the committee has finalized all arrangements in preparation for the ceremony, which is in appreciation to the efforts and hard work of sports-related authorities who served in this sector for many years.

This award is named after Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, second vice-chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and BOC honorary president, who is known as one of the founders of the sports movement nationally, regionally and continentally.

The previous edition of the award was held in 2016, where 76 sports personnel were honoured in appreciation to their contributions to sports in their respective posts.
