King Hamad Global Centre to promote tolerance, love, peace

ManamaAssistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Dossari has affirmed that the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence reflects the wise vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in promoting the values of tolerance, love and peace.

It also reaffirms the Kingdom of Bahrain’s rich history, as it holds a prestigious position in spreading the values of peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others, as well as its constant efforts to instil communication and promote dialogue among different cultures and religions.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the “Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration Platform”, held at the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence, which is also considered the first activity of the centre, the Assistant Foreign Minister stated that this event will remain firmly engraved in Bahrain’s memory as it confirms Bahrain’s international status as a global centre for promoting a culture of peace, openness, and coexistence among different cultures. The activities of the Centre will include organisation of conferences, lectures and events in this area.

The Centre is based on the rich history of the Kingdom of Bahrain in practising and supporting civilisational concepts of diversity, friendship, respect and human rapprochement, and the rejection of its peaceful and cohesive society towards all forms of intolerance, hatred and extremism.

The assistant foreign minister pointed out that the pioneering civilisational initiatives were taken by HM King Hamad in promoting tolerance and peaceful co-existence among all members of society, with a variety of religious, ethnic and cultural affiliations constitute important humanitarian values.

He stressed that the establishment of the Centre would contribute to strengthening communication among all peoples and supporting the efforts of the international community in maintaining security and peace by rejecting extremism and hate speech in all their forms and manifestations.

Al Dossari also pointed out that the Centre will play a vital role through its various plans and programmes in promoting and embracing principles of friendship, respect and human rapprochement, which reflects Bahrain’s cultural heritage and its constant efforts to achieve security and peace based on respect for the rule of law and human rights, and the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations as well as international efforts to achieve and disseminate a culture of peace in the world.

The Minister extended his greetings to the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees of the Centre for the inauguration of their activities, wishing them success.
