PM orders mosque re-construction
Manama : His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday gave directives re-build the Al-Mehzaa Mosque in Manama.
The Premier, in his directives, stressed that the religious monuments should be re-build “as soon as possible” preserving its “historic status and religious role”.
The move, HRH Premier said, is required to ensure that this “religious monument remains distanced from illegal practices.”
As of now, prayers are not being performed at the mosque because of its structural condition. HRH the Prime Minister issued an order to the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments to cooperate with the competent authorities to re-build the Al-Mehzaa Mosque.
Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, said that the Ministry had embarked, in coordination with the relevant ministries and entities, on implementing a plan to revamp the iconic mosque.
The minister extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his constant interest in houses of worships.
