K-pop fest sets stage ablaze

Manama : In a cluster of spectacular performances, the Korean fandom in Bahrain proves ones more the captivating K-wave in the Middle East where thousands of Bahrain City Center mall goers shrilled and thrilled over the local talents exhibits on stage, as part of the K-pop World Festival 2018. 

Organized for the first time in Bahrain, the K-pop World Festival was organized by the Korean Embassy in Manama at the Bahrain City Centre on 27April 2018 at 7:00pm where a number of local dance groups and talented singers showcased their talents and entertained the Korean pop music fan base in the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as the visitors of the mall. 

The K-pop world Festival exhibited the affluent talents in singing and dancing in a spectacular performance bringing participants on the dance floor, staging their capabilities to the jury, which, upon evaluation, select two contenders to join the Global K-pop Competition later this year in Korea. 

The festival was opened by the National Taekwondo Team’s demonstration of musical martial arts followed by the performances of 14 participants in the vocal and dance categories. 

The competition resulted in a massive win to Lydia Wapshaka for singing the EXO’s (Baek Hyun) ballad song, I didn’t really know. The second place went to the dance crew “KISMET” who sizzled the dance floor in a routine for the IKON-Rhythm Ta song. Third place winner was Maram Ashoor who soothed the audiences in her rhythmic voice with another vocal magic. 

The audiences later were fired up with the surprise performance by “Girl-Kind”; a Korean girl group visiting for the occasion and performing for the first time in Bahrain. 

The K – pop World Festival 2018 was hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Manama as part of the cultural promotion programs the Embassy is organizing to fulfil the requests and wishes of the Bahraini fan base of Korean pop music.
