United and determined to move ahead, says HM King

Manama : Bahrain will remain united and resolved more than ever to continue building bridges of amity and cooperation with all countries in the world, said His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. 

The People of Bahrain, HM the King said, are tremendously dedicated to serving their homeland and protecting its hard-won gains and preserving the values of tolerance, co-existence, “which have long marked the country.”

Speaking while receiving dignitaries from the Governorate of Muharraq at Al-Safriya Palace, HM hailed Muharraq’s deep-rooted history and congratulated the delegation on the reconstruction of the old neighbourhoods of ancient Muharraq.

On the occasion, HM the King’s Advisor for Youth and Sports Affairs Saleh bin Isa bin Hindi and the attendees presented to HM the King a traditional boat, which was used in diving and pearling in Bahrain. 

Created by Abdulaziz Shaheen and Jamal Shaheen from the Khalfan family in Muharraq, it was a year-long effort for them to build the pearling boat made out of teakwood. 

They were also ranked first in a builders contest held in the Arabia Gulf region.

The “noukhada” or the boat’s captain, Jamal Shaheen, briefed to King regarding the multi-phased construction of the boat.

Accepting the gift, HM the King said, “The gift reflects the keenness of the people of Muharraq on conserving their heritage and traditional professions and reviving the legacy of fathers and forefathers”.

His Majesty hailed Muharraq’s deep-rooted history, and its people’s patriotism, dedication and contribution to Bahrain’s educational, cultural, scientific, social and trade development.

Thanking HM the King, Bin Hindi, reiterating allegiance to HM the King, hailed His Majesty’s dedication to serving the nation and building Bahrain’s prosperous future. 

Bin Hindi congratulated HM the King on the landmark performance of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, who won the Iron Man North American Championship - under 49 age category, concluded recently in Texas, USA. He also offered to HM the King the traditional “bashtakhta”, which was used in the past to keep the harvested pearls.
