Ministry refutes plastic rice claims
Manama : The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the Ministry of Health, in a statement, yesterday rejected claims circulating on social media platforms that ‘plastic rice’ is being sold at a major shopping outlet in the Kingdom.
“The allegations circulated online regarding eggs, rice and other products are untrue,” said a statement issued by the Consumer Protection Directorate and the Public Health Department.
“Imported eggs are fresh, natural and safe for human consumption,” the statement said, adding that the samples of the imported eggs were tested and proven safe. The statement released on BNA said that samples of different types of rice were tested in the laboratories and found safe.
The department of food control at the ministry of health examined samples of rice, based on complaints, and found that the food product is organic and natural.
