Protecting heritage
Manama : An initiative aimed at preserving deep-rooted gains and authentic heritage of the Southern Governorate was inaugurated yesterday.
HH Shaikha Mariam bint Salman Al Khalifa patronised the inauguration of the initiative titled “The Southern Governorate: Glory and History”.
Southern Governor, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Ministers, senior guests and scores of the Southern Governorate’s dignitaries were present at the ceremony held at the Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa’s Hall at the University of Bahrain.
The governor said the Governorate draws inspiration from the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to contact citizens to meet their needs.
HH Shaikh Khalifa also announced celebrating May 3 as “Southern Governorate’s Heritage Day” every year.
A movie showcasing landmarks, monuments and values of the Governorate was screened during the event.
The governor presented HH Shaikha Mariam with a memento in appreciation of her patronage of the ceremony.
