Excited kids take part in basketball free throws
Manama : Action in the First Bahrain Baby Olympics resumed yesterday with another set of activities at the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities Hall, located at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
Kids, aged from 4 to 5 years, competed in free throws in the basket contest while being observed by representatives of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the organisers of the event, as well as co-organisers the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and their parents.
Seven dedicated kids mini basketball hoops were available at the court as each of the preschool pupils was given a number of attempt at the basket in a fun, entertaining and challenging environment, on the second day of this first-ever programme in
Bahrain.
The organizing committee, headed by Lounes Madene and Public Relations manager Mohammed Al Beloshi, divided the participants into two categories based on the kids age, and competition was well conducted in cooperation with a group of volunteers. The competition concluded with all the participants receiving bronze medals.
BOC secretary general Abdulrahman Askar, along with board members Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa and Ali Isa, and Bahrain Table Tennis Association general secretary Ebrahim Siyadi, were present to witness the most recent festivities.
Meanwhile, action in the First Bahrain Baby Olympics continues today with competition in athletics and gymnastics, both of which will take place at Isa Sports City.
The Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities will host the athletics events, featuring spring run, hurdles and kids relay open for 3-year-old nursery babies.
The concluding day of the two-day gymnastics contests will be held at the Bahrain Table Tennis Association hall, where kindergarten kids aged 4 to 5 years will compete it out in the free body expression.
Four sports, namely, football, basketball, athletics and gymnastics, have been lined up for the first edition of the Baby Olympics, which is open to 3 to 5 years old babies in an attempt to promote sports as a way of life within the community at a very young age.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, is patronizing the six-day event.
Around 1,200 kids from 29 nurseries and 37 kindergartens are lined up for this event, sponsored by Mothercare – the trusted destination for children’s fashion, and Lulu Group – one of the fastest growing retail chains in the world.
Askar and Shaikha Hayat had launched the Olympics on Saturday, when taekwondo and ballet shows, in addition to crawling and walkers side contests were presented by kids from different nurseries and kindergartens.
