Ramadan to start on Thursday
The crescent announcing the start of the holy of month of Ramadan could not be sighted, and therefore Thursday will be the first day of the holy month, said the crescent-sighting committee.
During Ramadan, the ninth on the Islamic lunar-based calendar, Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise until sunset.
Ministries and public departments and offices in the Kingdom will be open from 8 am to 2 pm on the five days of the working week.
