Several arrested for drinking alcohol in open in Western Ekker
Manama : Interior Ministry has arrested a number of Asians, who were drinking alcohol in open in Western Ekker, a day after the Daily Tribune reported the incident citing video clips.
The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science in the Ministry of the Interior said the culprits are now in police custody.
Commenting on the issue, Lawyer Faysal Al-Jamaan told the Daily Tribune such people are legally called “Clear drunkard” and the penalty is only BD50.
The penalty, Al-Jamaan said, however, will go up to three to six months’ imprisonment with deportation, if not a Bahraini national, for unlicensed sale of liquor.
