BD12.9m expansion planned for key highway
Manama : A tender worth BD12.9 million for the expansion of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway and the development of its intersection with Shaikh Isa bin Salman road along with the construction of the turn-about bridge to the left has been announced by the Ministry of Works.
The project includes the construction of a new two-lane high-rise bridge with a length of 13.45 meters to provide free traffic coming from the north on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highway directly to the east on Shaikh Isa bin Salman road. The project includes expanding Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highway to five lanes from Saar junction to street number 13. This aims at ensuring
safety around the proposed upper bridge, and to accommodate the traffic coming out of Route 13 leading to Saar.
The current slope will remain in place to serve road users, either to the north on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highway or to the west on Shaikh Isa bin Salman road. The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority has also submitted tenders for the purchase of tourist buses. The BTEA plans to purchase two amphibious buses from the brand ‘Aqua Bus’. The authority also plans to start the
38-seater buses in Manama for sightseeing, as it will operate as a road vehicle that can enter the water to provide a sea-side of the tour. The ship/vehicle or bus will accommodate up to 38 passengers in a fully air-conditioned environment.
The Bahrain Petroleum Company has submitted three tenders for the purchase of the thermal oxidation test for aviation fuel and the rates of deposit tubes, a feasibility study for the renewal of three torpedoes for electrical generators, maintenance and support services for Siemens XHQ.
