Manama Suq to get facelift
Manama : The iconic old Manama Suq will be revamped to meet the needs of shoppers and traders. Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed Al Zayani announced the plan as he toured the suq, in the company of Capital Governor Shaikh
Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa.
The minister stressed the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier to engage the private sector in revamping the iconic suq, being one of the oldest in
the region. He stressed keenness on following up the project and remove obstacle which may impeded the development of the old Manama suq, which will have a positive impact on the trade activities and spur national economic growth.
Mr Al Zayani met several Manama suq traders and stressed resolve to continue the project. A committee chaired by the BTEA chief Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa has already been established to develop the suq and revitalised its commercial and economic role.
