The Kingdom celebrated World Environment Day

Senior Government functionaries, representatives of UN offices and members of Indian community attended a special event held by the Indian Embassy to mark the World Environment Day yesterday. The event saw saplings being planted in the embassy premises in Seef. Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha, Director and Regional Representative of the United Nations Environment Programme for West Asia (UNEP) Sami Dimassi, Undersecretary for International Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and UNIC Director Samir Imtair Aldarabi, leading businessman Mohammed Dadabhai, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Second Vice-Chairman Mohammed Abduljabbar Alkooheji and LuLu Hypermarket director Juzer Rupawala attended the event. 

Many schools in the Kingdom too observed World Environment Day with various events. Students planted sapling, raised slogans, made posters and charts to make the day.
