The biggest public beach on the island, Jazayer Beach would be open for public during Eid holidays
will be open for the public during this Eid Al Fitr holidays, said Southern Area Municipal Council Chairman Ahmed Al Ansari, dismissing fears that the biggest public beach on the island would be closed.
The worries of closure grew after a local English daily reported last month that “the beach has been closed” and that “people are prohibited from accessing the sea”, because of construction work being carried out to set up a tourism project.
Speaking to The Tribune, Ahmed Al Ansari and Representative of the 9th Constituency in the Southern Governorate MP Mohsen Al Bakri denied the claims that the beach has been closed down. Al Ansari said that Bahrain Real Estate Investment (Edamah), the company in charge of developing Jazayer Beach, has been temporarily fencing off sections of the beach to develop infrastructure. “The beach isn’t closed. The company put barriers on the worksite for the purpose of beachgoers safety and security. There are no guards deployed on the site to prevent people from accessing the beach,” Al Ansari confirmed.
