Need more new notes during Eid, Parents tell CBB

For the first time in history, kids in the Kingdom have demanded something to the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB). They want more new currency notes to be printed as they are reluctant on receiving old notes from elders as part of Eidiya custom. Many parents had to iron old and wrinkled notes before making contributions to their children’s money bags.

Maryam Abbas, a parent, said new notes would boost children’s joy along with wearing new clothes. “Two days before Eid we began visiting all banks to get new notes for one dinar and 500 fils. But bank staff kept on telling that they were not having new notes.” Speaking to Tribune, Abdelzahra Hassan, said children can’t be made happy with old notes as they want new notes. “I was running here and there to get new notes, but failed. I think more 500 fils and one dinar notes should be printed during Eid,” he added.
