Ten years jail for teenaged drug smugglers
Bahrain’s customs officials nabbed a 17-yearold Indian attempting to smuggle marijuana into Bahrain through the Kingdom’s airport, it was revealed. He is said to have made paper balls using newspapers and hid the drugs inside them in a bid to smuggle them in. Surprisingly, he wanted to deliver the drugs to a 16-year-old fellow national, who was a drug dealer in the Kingdom. “When we X-rayed his bag there were four balls made of newspapers, thus we kept an eye on it until the 17-year-old boy collected it. “We directed him to go the manual inspection. when we opened the balls and found marijuana weighing around a half kilogram. His saliva also tested positive for the same drug,” a customs officer told prosecutors. The 16-year-old boy was waiting for the first defendant at the Bahrain International Airport, and he was arrested subsequently. The pair were put on trial on charges of attempting to smuggle drugs and consuming as well as trying to sell the same in the Kingdom.
