Instagram helps police nab fake bomber

A Bahraini teenager who allegedly planted a fake bomb in A’ali in January this year was nabbed after the police successfully traced the communication between the accused and an Iran-based Bahraini fugitive on social media tool Instagram. The communication showed the fugitive requesting the accused to plant a fake bomb to create panic in the area. The teenager made the fake explosive using a plastic chair and water bottles. “I received messages on Instagram from him (the fugitive) requesting me to make the fake bomb. I responded positively to and I made the device using a plastic chair and water bottles. “I placed the fake bomb in A’ali to manipulate police officers and create panic among the people living in the area,” the teenager told prosecutors.  He was put on trial before the High Criminal Court which slapped him with three years in prison. His accomplice was also tried, but in absentia and was handed three year’s imprisonment.
