Seven-year jail for kidnappers
The High Criminal Court has sentenced four Bahraini defendants to seven years in prison for kidnapping a citizen and torturing him in Dar Kulaib. The four are said to have committed their crime after suspecting their victim to be a police informer.
According to court details, they filmed him confessing that he was helping police officers in identifying rioters, and they sent the footage to terrorists living outside Bahrain.
The case details say the fourth defendant was the one who ordered the victim’s abduction because he had discovered that he was a police informer.
“We held him and covered his face and pushed him into the car,” the first defendant revealed to police officers.
“We took him to a room in Darkulaib, and we interrogated him while filming the process. He told us that he was collaborating with police officers and we began hitting him with a plank.”
“They threatened me to not communicate with police officers and don’t deal with them, or I will face the same consequence.
They returned me to the same area, in which they kidnapped me and they kicked me out the car,” the victim said.
The event happened on January 31, 2018, and the defendants were nabbed after investigations identified their involvement.
They were charged with kidnapping and assaulting their victim.
