Hamad Town residents welcome long awaited souq project
Hamad Town residents have urged the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to set up the souq at the earliest.
This follows the announcement by the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf that the ministry had issued tenders to begin the work.
The public tender is about the construction of a central souq with a modern perspective on a ministry-owned 12303.8 sq metre plot, the minister had said yesterday.
The winning investor will operate the market for 35 years, and pay, except during the 24-month grace period, annual utilisation amounts and net profit ratios, he added.
The minister pointed out that the project is within the ministry’s plans to take advantage of partnership with the private sector to increase municipal investments and enhance revenues in order to be able to deliver more services.
