Medicine shortage at SMC only ‘a temporary issue’
Dismissing shortage of medicines at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) and health centres, MP Majid Al Majid said that shortage is temporary and it cannot be considered a real problem.
“We trust the government represented by the Ministry of Health to provide enough medicines at SMC and health centres,” he said, adding that the ministry had awarded tenders worth over BD100 million to 17 pharmacies earlier this year to buy medicines. He stressed that “the shortage is temporary and the Kingdom has one of the best healthcare systems in the world”.
The ministry indicated that the management of the Salmaniya Medical Complex has taken precautionary measures to avoid the shortage of drugs. It also asked patients, citizens and residents not to believe social media rumors and communicate directly with the ministry through Tawasul programme.
The ministry conveyed its utmost readiness to receive and follow up any observations and respond to them through the patient complaints office via telephone number 32220112.
