Hospital CEO sentenced for forging doctor’s licence

An Indian chief executive officer of a hospital forged official documents to allow a fellow national work as a doctor in the Kingdom without obtaining the necessary licence, a court heard. The 36-year-old physician is said to have applied for a doctor’s licence with the National Health Regulatory Authourity (NHRA), but his request bounced back owing to the hospital, which offered him employment, not submitting its data on the organisational structure. The truth came out after NHRA enquired about the doctors working at the hospital with Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).

It was revealed that the hospital was employing the same physician, who had not obtained the licence. Later investigations proved that the CEO of the hospital had forged the letter of approval issued by NHRA. The Indian man was tried before the High Criminal Court which gave him a year’s imprisonment. He, however, won’t go to jail, provided he doesn’t commit the same mistake, as his sentence has been suspended for three years.

“The defendant’s record didn’t contain any wrongdoing before, and we doubt he will conduct the same act again. Therefore, the court decided to award him a suspended one-year jail term for three years,” the verdict revealed.
