BD10,000 was missing from his savings, and only BD400 was left in the cupboard. The missing money came as a surprise as neither him nor his wife hardly left the house in the past few days.

Gudaibiya Police station Head of Search and Follow up First Lt. Khalifa Thani said no damages were found on the cupboard, which indicated the thief was not a stranger.

“First we suspected the couple's son who lived in the house. Then we came to know that a maid, a cook and a driver also lived in the house. We questioned all of them and searched their rooms. All of them denied committing the robbery during questioning," Interior Ministry's publication Al Amn quoted AlThani as saying.

The driver who receives a monthly salary of BD 120 was found to have recently purchased a smart phone worth BD 290.

It was also revealed his held a lavish birthdays party, spending about BD800. He had also made two remittances of BD 4000.

When questioned, the driver initially denied any wrongdoing, but later confessed when confronted with evidence.
