Bahrain, Thailand for greater business ties
Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Zayed bin Rashid Alzayani, yesterday hailed the increasing growth of Bahrain and Thailand trade ties, highlighting it as an opportunity to “capitalize on”.
Speaking during a seminar on “Trade and Investment opportunities in Bahrain”, the minister said Bahrain overall trade volume with Thailand in 2017 was around USD 638 million a 19 per cent increase from 2016.
The Minister added: “This is a positive sign that we are heading in the right direction, and we should capitalize on this.” “Our imports from Thailand was around USD188m, while non-oil exports were around USD 60m and oil exports around USD389m,” the minister told the seminar organised by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand.
Alzayani pointed out that there are 26 companies registered in Bahrain with Thai partnership. The Minister also confirmed that the Ministry of
Industry, Commerce and Tourism is committed to developing all areas of private enterprise and have carried out a thorough revision of all commercial laws to ease the process of setting up a business in Bahrain.
