Nation to get its first space team

The Bahrain National Space Agency (NSSA) yesterday announced the launch of Bahrain’s ‘Space Team’ programme, the first initiative of its kind in the Kingdom, which aims to support Bahrainis working across a wide range of areas related to space science and technology.

Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Kamal Ahmed highlighted the crucial role of HM King Hamad in the development of the Kingdom’s space science and technology sector.

The Executive Chairman of NSSA Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, stated that the initiative will see the hiring and training of 10 highly skilled Bahrainis, who will become the Kingdom’s first group of space science and technology specialists. He explained that the selected candidates will undertake an intensive 24-month long training programme, conducted both in Bahrain and abroad, intended to further enhance the Kingdom’s space-related capabilities.

He concluded by stating that the deadline for applying to the ‘Space Team’ programme is 29 July 2018, and invited Bahraini citizens with engineering and related backgrounds to visit the website (www.nssa.gov.bh) to find out more about the entry requirements and application process.
