Five get five years in jail for torching car
Burning an old car in Sitra has landed five men in prison for five years. Four of the suspects were sentenced in absentia, as they are still on the run.
The accused, Bahrainis, according to court files, pushed the car to a public road and set it on fire in a bid to hinder traffic and spread fear among citizens and residents.
According to the official records, the fifth defendant provided the petrol used for torching the vehicle. “We poured the petrol on the back seat of the vehicle and set it alight before fleeing,” the first defendant told prosecutors. The suspects were convicted of arson.
