Serial Bahraini criminal extradited from Kuwait
Manama : A serial Bahraini criminal has been extradited from Kuwait to Bahrain, it was learnt. The 39-year-old Bahraini is accused in 36 cases including robbery, attacks and using drugs. His latest crime was a robbery attempt at an exchange, after which he fled to Kuwait, where he was arrested.
Sources said he barged into a money exchange holding a wooden plank and threatened and attacked employees there before fleeing with cash. “He hit my leg with the plank multiple times asking for money,” one of the exchange employees told prosecutors. “He then threatened one of my female colleagues and opened one of the drawers. He took BD4,000 and fled the scene. There was a car waiting outside for him.” The accused was identified after cops traced the owner of the car. But it was discovered that the accused had fled to Kuwait. The accused had informed his mother about robbery and his family members were prepared to face inquiry, according to case investigators.
“He told me about robbery. He apologized to me and was willing to return the cash to the exchange,” the mother of the accused, had told police. “Before the day of robbery, I had some issues with my family members. I had been a drug addict and was receiving treatment to end the habit. It was all of a sudden I felt the urge to commit a robbery similar to some Hollywood scenes. I bought a mask, new clothes and removed my sister’s car registration as part of preparation,” the Bahraini man told cops.
“I thought I would escape by going to Kuwait under the pretext of continuing my anti-addiction treatment there,” he added. The 39-year-old will face robbery and physical assault charges when he stands before the High Criminal Court for the trial.
