348 affected with Hepatitis C
A total of 348 Hepatitis C cases have been recorded at Salmaniya Medical Complex for which, according to experts, there is no vaccine. Dr Mahiba Abdulla, a gastroenterology and liver consultant at the department of internal medicine in Salmaniya Medical Complex, said around 188 patients were treated at the hospital, while 75 are awaiting treatment.
Hepatitis C, Dr Mahiba said, has no vaccine, while hepatitis E, a severe infection, can be cured in a couple of weeks without any treatment.
