Firm ordered to pay BD28,000 in indemnity to ex-employee

Manama : The High Labour Court ordered a local company to pay one of its ex-employees a whopping BD28,000 in indemnity as well as BD1,400 in compensation for his untaken leaves. The plaintiff, an expatriate, is said to have been serving the company from 1990 until December 31, 2016, but his end-of-service was met with an objection to settle his dues by his employers.

As a result, he took the company to the court. The company has been denying that the plaintiff was registered in its ranks throughout the trial, according to the plaintiff’s lawyer Hassan Al Ajooz. The plaintiff was netting a monthly wage of BD300, and the court ordered for him to be paid 1.5 months for each of the first three years of his service and one month for each year in the remainder of his tenure, taking the full amount to BD28,000.
