Cashless transactions jump 74pc, ePayment amount exceeds BD50 million in the first half of 2018

In its march towards a cashless economy, Bahrain, during the first half of 2018, took a big leap by recording an increase of 74 per cent in the cashless transaction.

BD50 million payments were recorded during the period till June 2018 through various channels, with new vehicles registration and payment of court execution ruling on the top spot, compared to that in the same period a year ago.

This, according to the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), equals an increase of 74pc paid through more than 600k transactions made through National Portal Bahrain.bh, eKiosks and smartphones applications.
