East Eker arsonists sentenced
Three men set an electrical transformer on fire in East Eker village to trigger panic among citizens, according to court files. The trio were charged following police investigations, which confirmed their role in the attack.
According to court files, the trio along with others rioted in the village on March 18, 2017, before setting the transformer on fire. They allegedly used firebombs and iron rods apart from hurling Molotov cocktails at police officers stationed in the village.
The three accused were tried before the High Criminal Court, and they were sentenced to seven years behind bars each after they were held guilty of arson, possessing firebombs and rioting.
