Mobile phone application for causeway

Plans to develop a smartphone application to facilitate travel to Saudi Arabia is currently being discussed, it has emerged. In a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Lt General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, plans to launch a smartphone application to electronically insure vehicles online, and to facilitate the Custom Affairs to offer an online 'e-form' to permit travel from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia were discussed.

The application is also expected to tackle traffic congestion in King Fahad Causeway.Elaborating on the details of the meeting, Interior Ministry's Al Amn magazine stated that the minister was assessing the findings of the causeway authority's security committee.

The application is aimed at reducing paperwork as well as traffic congestion.But reducing the need to stop at different kiosks for documentation processing, the application is expected to make movement at the causeway easier.Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa briefed the attendees of the meetings about the challenges at the causeway and suggested solutions for more efficient workflow.
