Mobile phones fourth largest imported good, over one million mobile phones annually imported to the Kingdom
With over one million mobile phones being imported to the Kingdom, Bahrain’s addiction to the gadget is beyond any reckoning.
According to data revealed by the Customs Department, the Kingdom imported 526,182 mobile phones and communications equipment from 10 countries valued over BD51 million in the first half of 2018. However, when compared to last year the numbers have gone down by 12 per cent. The Kingdom imported 603,429 mobile phones during the first half of 2017.
The data showed maximum mobile phones were imported from China (55.1pc), followed by Vietnam (37.1pc) and other countries. Among mobile phones sold, Samsung led the pack followed by iPhone, Huawei and other brands.
