Waste recycling project launched in Nabih Saleh

The Undersecretary of Municipalities Affairs at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Dr Nabeel Abulfateh, yesterday launched a waste recycling project in the housing area of Nabih Saleh in cooperation with the specialised consultant company currently working in Bahrain preparing the National Waste Management Strategy.

The project was a concept initiated between Estidama Waste Management Centre and Gulf City Cleaning Company (GCCC). “A major initiative behind the National Waste Strategy is the source separation of waste to ensure maximum recycling potential,” he said.

Clean waste sorted at the household produces a much higher recovery rate than mixed with other waste, the official added. The idea of the pilot project is to engage with the public to cooperate by targeting households directly to ensure maximum clean recyclables.
