Embassy ‘concerned over crimes committed by Bangladeshi expats’

Flouting the convention that diplomats are not supposed to talk tough, Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kingdom Mominur Rahman has demanded death penalty to his fellow national if he gets convicted of murdering the Bahraini imam.

The imam - Shaikh Abdul Jaleel Hamood - was allegedly murdered by a Bangladeshi national last week, who left the body inside a garbage bag after cutting it into pieces near a scrapyard in Askar.

“The murder has spoiled the reputation of our nation as well as the community in the Kingdom. There are many Bangladeshi nationals in the Kingdom who are hard core criminals and they should be punished according to the legal system of this country.”

Mr Rahman stressed that the Bangladesh Embassy in the Kingdom wouldn’t defend any criminals.

“Criminals are criminals and they should get the punishment they deserve. I urge Bahraini authorities to take strict action against all criminals.”

Mr Rahman said that he is aware of the fact that Bangladeshi nationals were running many violent gangs in the Kingdom.
