Unwanted guests fill broken-down houses

Many broken-down, dilapidated and empty houses located in the heart of Manama have allegedly become a haven for drug addicts and prostitutes.
There are also many rundown buildings in the capital which serve as home to expat labourers.

After receiving complaints about these houses, the Capital Municipality has urged to devise a project to deal with these “collapsing houses”.

Speaking to Tribune, Capital Trustees Chairman Mohammed Ali Al Khuzaie said immediate action is needed from the part of ministries concerned.
“Most of these houses have become hideouts for illegal and immoral activities. They must be demolished at the earliest as they pose threat to the public as well,” he pointed out.

Mr Al Khuzaie further added that the project to demolish dilapidated buildings has been halted temporarily due to unknown reasons.
